Thea LaFond – Dominica’s Trailblazer
Dominica’s Trailblazing Triplejumper
Thea LaFonde’s journey began on the beautiful Caribbean island of Dominica. The Nature Isle, known for its lush rainforests and vibrant culture, now boasts another gem in the form of Thea LaFonde. At an early age, she moved to the US where Thea displayed a natural talent for athletics, a spark that would ignite into a blazing trail of success.
Record Breaker for Dominica
With a population of just over 70,000, LaFonde continuously makes history for Dominica. She became the first Dominican to win a medal at the Commonwealth Games in 2018 securing a bronze and then bettering that in 2022 securing a silver.
In 2024, she then went on to become the first Dominican to win a World Championship medal and in Paris Olympics 2024 became a gold medal winner in the triple jump, making her the first and only Olympian for the Nature Isle.
