Jamaican Jerk Chicken Recipe
Jerk Chicken
Ingredients:
– 4 pounds of chicken pieces (thighs, drumsticks, or wings)
– 1/2 cup of jerk seasoning (store-bought or homemade)
– 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
– 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
– 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
– 2 tablespoons of vinegar (white or apple cider)
– 1 medium onion, chopped
– 4 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 teaspoon of fresh thyme leaves
– 1 teaspoon of ground allspice
– 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
– 1 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
– Salt and pepper to taste
– Lime wedges for serving
Instructions:
1. In a bowl, combine the jerk seasoning, vegetable oil, soy sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, chopped onion, minced garlic, thyme, allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Mix well to form a marinade.
2. Place the chicken pieces in a large zip-top bag or a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the chicken and ensure it’s evenly coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.
3. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
4. Remove the chicken from the marinade and grill for about 25-30 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and has a nice charred and smoky flavor. You can also use an oven or stovetop grill pan if you don’t have access to an outdoor grill.
5. Serve the jerk chicken hot with lime wedges on the side for squeezing over the top. Enjoy your authentic Jamaican jerk chicken!
